London, 27th May 2016: S&T is once again delighted to be sponsoring the 2016 Charity Golf Day, this year at The Grove, Hertfordshire in aid of TackleAfrica. The charity provides frontline HIV education through football coaching to young people throughout Africa. The 2015 S&T Celebrity Golf Masters day raised over £40,000 for the UK charity, allowing a sustainable scale-up of essential HIV education services in East Africa. The event, sponsored by S&T, was held at Wentworth in Surrey last June, and featured celebrities from the world of football and rugby combining to raise money for this vital cause. The 2016 S&T Celebrity Masters will be held at the prestigious Grove Golf Club in Hertfordshire on 27th May.
In the last four years, the golf day partnership with TackleAfrica has enabled S&T to raise £75,000. This money has supported TackleAfrica to expand its work to reach a further 10,000 young people across East Africa. Another successful event will allow TackleAfrica to build on their operations in Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia, reaching thousands more young people in the fight against HIV. TackleAfrica will also continue to deliver high quality programming across East Africa and expand its works through new long term and sustainable programmes across Zambia and launch in Malawi.
Charlie Gamble, CEO of TackleAfrica, added, “We’re really grateful to S&T and everyone who attended last year’s golf day. The money raised makes a huge difference to our work in Africa, which will now continue to expand and develop to help even more young people over the coming years. Combined with S&T’s commitment and passion, celebrities’ involvement, auctions to benefit this cause, and a variety of networking events, I am positive this year’s charity golf day, too, will be a huge success”.
Jeff Watts, CEO of S&T(UK) Ltd. further commented, “I am delighted to announce this sponsorship deal with TackleAfrica again for this year. Moving to The Grove will enable us to have even more players and celebrities joining forces to raise what we hope will be a very substantial amount of money. Last year’s golf day fundraising went directly to employing new TackleAfrica staff in Africa that, along with a network of coaches, will support vulnerable young children in learning about HIV through football. All the celebrity footballers and rugby players will once again be giving their time for free which we greatly appreciate”.
