S&T UK was awarded a prestigious Gold Green Apple Award for the Built Environment & Architectural Heritage on the Hotel Russell project.
The award was presented by The Green Organisation at the annual awards ceremony in The Houses of Parliament on 9th June.
The Green Apple Environment Awards recognises and promotes environmental best practice around the world.
An array of innovative sustainable solutions was implemented at the Hotel Russell project which includes restoring and reusing the original timber flooring, the plasterboard and timber materials were sustainably sourced and a chain of custody certified through FSC and PEFC schemes. Over 90% of waste has been diverted from landfill and tangible benefits have been delivered for the local community.
Jeff Watts, S&T UK CEO, said: “Winning a Gold Green Apple Award is testament to the project’s ongoing commitment to the pursuit of environmental best practice and recognises how we have restored and renovated a Grade II listed hotel and made tangible benefits for the local community. To win a gold green apple award in our first application is an outstanding achievement”.
